Here are three of my favorite projects designed while getting my BA in Graphic Design at Loyola Marymount University.

Moholy-Nagy Gallery Of Art Brand Guide

Project Brief: Design a comprehensive brand guide for a faux art gallery or museum dedicated to an artist of your choice.

Design Outcome: The Moholy-Nagy Gallery of Art begged for a bold, visually striking brand inspired by Lazlo’s paintings, photography, and sculptures, which were highly influenced by constructivism. The brand also draws inspiration from the Bauhaus School more broadly, and the Brand Guide itself is styled and formatted after the 1970 New York City Transit Authority Graphics Standards Manual.

Dante’s Inferno Modern Book Design

Project Brief: Using only black and white, re-imagine the design of a book excerpt (including the cover and first chapter).

Design Outcome: For this Dante’s Inferno Book re-design, I used modern design elements in contrast with traditional gothic-esque serif fonts and type-setting. The nine rings on the cover, symbolizing the nine rings of Hell, are a visual motif throughout the book’s design. The negative space employed throughout the design evokes feelings of emptiness and hopelessness.

Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind Title Sequence

Project Brief: Create a faux title sequence for a movie using Adobe After Effects.

Design Outcome: The movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is more than a journey through the mind, so without revealing too much about the plot, I created a title sequence that focuses on the brain procedure that the main character (Jim Carrey) undergoes in the film. The animations used for the two lead roles hint at what happens to their characters in the story: while Jim Carrey is trying to connect the dots about his failed relationship, Kate Winslet is meanwhile being erased from his mind. The glitch effect references the many malfunctions that ensue during the procedure (perpetrated by the lovers’ attempt to reverse the effects), and the overall dark tone reflects the somber and unnerving tone of the movie.
